The Gold Bond Story: Comfort In A 3rd Century
People in the late 1800's were much like we are today. Folks needed their rest after a long day's work. Good sleep has always been the goal for centuries. But a really comfortable mattress? That was a fairly novel idea back in times when mattresses were mostly known as "lumpy". Gold Bond changed that standard, and started a future filled with happy, well-rested customers.
By the end of World War II, Gold Bond was delivering mattresses throughout the East, adding prestigious establishments, leading universities and posh hotels to their clientele. By then, the company had been blending its own cotton for 30 years and a "GOLD BOND" mattress had become an essential bedroom centerpiece. The quality was obvious to fussy homemakers. The comfort was welcomed by weary executives and hardworking tradesmen.
In time the company's contract and retail business continued to grow. People knew the Gold Bond name, so they demanded it. Quality and comfort were always being refined. By now steel innerspring technologies were dominating, yet Gold Bond's pure cotton and hand-made features were beginning to stand alone.
Today, Gold Bond is not only known as a superior quality leader in the mattress industry, it is also world renowned for making the finest futon mattresses. And for starting something entirely new, the modern futon. More on Gold Bond...

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
mattress is firm and durable, good for my bad back. great for sleeping. My only issue is the bed frame I bought with it was very flimsy but that has nothing to do with this product which is why I rated it highly.

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
I have severe back problems from 35 years of construction work. I bought this mattress for the firmness. I liked how firm it was but wanted it to be a little softer. So I bought 2 1/2 inches of memory foam and placed on top. I now can sleep better than I have for 30 years. I have noticed that I now wake up in the same position that I went to sleep in. Good luck to all with back probmems.

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
We bought this mattress because organic mattresses are so expensive and thought this one would be a good substitute as it is made with wool. Though well made, this mattress is uncomfortable. It is dense and hard and should be used for guests or occasional use only. It is not for everyday use unless you purchase a topper for added softness. Then, by the time you add the cost of the topper, you could just get an organic mattress for the same price.

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
I got this as a secondary bed for my toddler's under-bed trundle, though I've actually been sleeping on it, as I'm trying to transition out of co-sleeping with him.
I would only recommend this to someone buying a futon for seating, not sleeping. It's main allure is that it's a non-toxic mattress that costs WAY less than organic alternatives.
I can only sleep comfortably on my back, not my side, in this bed. There isn't enough "give" to lay any way except flat. It also has a very curvy surface, with deep valleys at the points where the futon was sewn together.
I've decided to buy a 2-inch latex foam topper to see if it helps at all. If not, then it's out the door!

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
We use this mostly for seating, and occasional sleeping. The mattress is heavy and is not staying in place on the futon. It's hard to pull it up to adjust because it's so heavy. It does not bother us too much, since our house is being torn upside down daily by our three young kids. Mattress is very comfortable for sleeping. That was the issue with our old mattress, it got compacted over the years, and you could literally feel the wooden bars underneath when sleeping. This mattress is definitely thick, firm, yet pleasant to touch. It serves its purpose and we're happy with our purchase.

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
this futon was as great as the other comments said. It is firm without being too hard, and a very good nights sleep. It is hard to flip over as it weighs 100 lbs, but worth it not to have to sleep on icky mattress coils anymore....never going back to mattresses again.[...]

Comments about Gold Bond 8" WoolWrap Futon Mattress:
Using on a guest platform style bed , so luckily, it will stay put in one position. Awkward to handle due to weight and thickness. Needed to add a layer of softness under the fitted sheet for comfort, but expect a long lifespan of use from this product. Once it was set up, seems to be very comfortable. I probably would have liked the 6" mattress more for it's maneuverability, but it was not available.
