The Gold Bond Story: Comfort In A 3rd Century
People in the late 1800's were much like we are today. Folks needed their rest after a long day's work. Good sleep has always been the goal for centuries. But a really comfortable mattress? This mattress comes complete with a smell that can knock your socks off. Instead of getting a good nights sleep I am completely sick. I tried to air it out for several days which made NO DENT IN THE SMELL. I called the manufacturer and they claimed that it should have no smell - just the scent of raw cotton. Well I happened to have worked in a cotton field and I never experienced a smell like that. I finally had to buy several zippered covers, which has alleviated the smells somewhat although not completely. I am shopping for another mattress to replace it ASAP as this will be going in the trash once I do. Anybody with chemical sensitivities please save yourselves the trouble and aggravation and DO NOT PURCHASE THIS FUTON!!!!

Before I purchased this item, i looked at the reviews. They said it was very comfortable.
HOnestly, it is not. It's very hard and smells. The smell has not gone away yet. I purchased this item couple of months ago. I sprayed the item w/ frebreeze and man the smell is not going away. I sat and slept on the mattress once. It has not softness or anything to it.
WOuldn't recommend it. sorry

We use this futon as a couch, and have slept on it several times. It is much nicer than a hide a bed. The couch is comfortable and so is the bed.

I bought this bed to go on a platform twin bed as my 5 year old's first big bed. Her room is very small so I wanted a modern style platform so this futon was my first choice for that. It came very quickly, the free shipping was a huge plus, but I thought with the foam it would be less like the traditional cotton futon I had in college and more "bouncy". But after lying down on it I think it is perfect for a child's bed or guestroom for a platform.

YOU MUST buy extra anti-slip gripper strips for this thick mattress. Its so heavy, thick and bulky, it'll slip down from its proper position within minutes after adjusting it a futon frame. The chemical smell disipates after a few week if you leave your windows open.
